What better way to start your Friday than with our weekly round-up of some of the many sweet treats we’ve eaten this week. Here’s five of our favourites! Clockwise from L-R
1. These ‘sweet little hooves‘ are a Polish dish which are potato dumplings, cooked in butter with cinnamon and sugar. These were delicious and served with sour cream flavoured with almond, with a scattering of blueberries and a sliced strawberry. We enjoyed an excellent meal with great service at ThewitchEZ Photo Design Café/Bar in Brighton, not too far from the pier.
2. We love banana bread! Helen enjoyed this one from Naughty Boy Café, Carlton, Melbourne. Looks like my kind of place too.
3. A bit of a muddy and wet cycle ride but we still managed to get a few hilly miles under our belts. We popped into Southwick Village Stores where there is a tea-room to the rear of the shop. The shop is famous for their award-winning pasties, so of course I had to purchase one to take home, the infamous ‘Southwick‘ pasty. It’s half eaten already and should have been for this evening’s dinner – oops. In the foreground of this photo is a very nice light and fresh lemon and blackberry cake. (Or was it blueberry? I wolfed it down so fast I didn’t get a chance to check).
4. Enjoyed a lovely meal at Beckett’s Wine Bar in Southsea, Portsmouth this week. I always have the exact same thing, luckily they don’t change the menu apart from ‘specials’ and I hope they never do. The neck fillet of lamb is to die for. This chocolate & nut bread & butter pudding was delicious, served with cream or ice-cream.
5. Another sweet treat from ‘the land down-under‘, home-made sticky date pudding from Knock Knock Café & Bar in Melbourne. Looks great, Sheila Helen.
