I was lucky to meet celebrity chef and Master Pâtissier, Eric Lanlard at Total Greek’s Birthday Party last month where I sampled more of his delicious tasting cakes. I first came across Eric’s cake after visiting his Cake Boy London cafe where we sat amongst others having the most wonderful looking afternoon tea.

Eric’s cakes are certainly luxurious with the likes of Her Majesty The Queen Mother, David Beckham and Claudia Schiffer all having cakes commissioned for them. It may be no surprise then to hear that Eric’s brand new sweet and savoury creations, can be found on special food and wine themed P&O Cruises.

Take a look at this video which showcases Eric Lanlard’s signature afternoon tea, which he designed for a dedicated food and wine themed P&O cruise. During the video, Eric shares his tips during his cookery demonstration and talks about the Q&A session he held whilst on board Azura ( one of the fleet’s largest cruise ship) sharing a few celebrity secrets along the way!

As you can see from the photos, the food looks incredible with highlights including exotic pop cones topped with orange blossom Persian candy floss and a modern take on the classic Eton mess with injection pipettes filled with raspberry coulis and meringue topped with Malaysian tapioca pearls filled with lychee juice.

Speaking about his afternoon tea, Eric said “When I was invited to create a signature afternoon tea for P&O Cruises, I jumped at the chance! I wanted to design something which had a modern twist and use ingredients from around the world which people may not have ever seen or tasted before, whether it be Persian candy floss or Malaysian tapioca pearls, it’s important to create something new and fresh.”

My idea of heaven!

You can try Eric Lanlard’s special afternoon tea on board P&O cruises with Eric himself appearing as a special guest on the next food and wine themed cruise later this year with Marco Pierre White. The 28-night Caribbean no-fly cruise on Adonia (D318) sounds like my idea of heaven and what’s more it departs two days before my birthday (22nd November 2013)! If you want to hear more about Eric’s afternoon tea and the culinary delights onboard P&O cruises visit www.pocruises.com or call 0843 373 0111.

This summer sun won’t last forever so why not book something to look forward to?

Living live, loving cake – and Eric Lanlard!
