I was first introduced to Beth’s fridge cake one Friday night when all the girls gathered round to watch movies and eat ourselves silly! Beth presented us with her fridge cake which she had made the previous evening and had placed in the fridge to set overnight. The fridge cake is similar to Rocky Road but instead of the usual four or five ingredients, fridge cake can include anything (and I mean anything!). Here’s a list of what was inside each delicious slice:
- Chocolate
- Marshmallows
- Biscuit
- Cherries
- More chocolate
- Sultanas
- Maltesers
- Nuts
- Treacle
- More chocolate!
Now, I know you are trying to add up the calories but once you’ve tried it, you just won’t care. What makes this cake so great is that it has so many different tastes and textures which all perfectly combine to give you a truly indulging experience. It’s a little like eating a number of sweet treats at the same time, perfect for someone as indecisive as me. Choosing whether to indulge in biscuits, nuts or chocolate on a Friday night is a hard decision but fridge cake allows you have it all! Surprisingly, Beth’s fridge cake wasn’t sickly as one might expect with all those ingredients, so I happily polished off a second slice and look one home for the following day.
This treat is perfect for a celebration such as a children’s tea party and is fairly easy and inexpensive to make. Add a touch of edible glitter to give it that WOW factor. If you would like to try making this yourself, the full recipe can be found here. Which ingredients would you include?
