Valentine’s Day – ways to show your love <3

Valentine’s Day. It’s that time of year where you can show your love to that special person in your life – or perhaps a future someone. Chocolates and flowers are the most common Valentine gifts and who doesn’t like chocolates? Well, ok there are a few people out there who actually don’t so I’ve included a couple of ideas for those rather odd people – only joking.

Charbonnel's lip-smacking 'Kisses'
Charbonnel’s lip-smacking ‘Truffle Kisses’

Our friends at Charbonnel et Walker sent us a box of tasty ‘Truffle Kisses‘. I love truffles and so these went down a treat (luckily my daughter Helen had already left the country so I got to eat them all). Eight truffles in the shape of a pair of lips are presented in a lovely red box. Four are Charbonnel’s signature Pink Marc de Champagne Truffles and four are the new Raspberry Marc de Champagne Truffles. The chocolate melted really well and was lovely and creamy. The truffle inside is wonderfully smooth. You can certainly taste alcohol from the champagne. They were lip-smacking good.

Charbonnel have gifts which will suit everyone’s pockets. From £4.99 for a box of 3 truffles right up to £75 for the beautiful Vintage Collection Heart box of chocolates which is filled with a selection of their finest milk and dark chocolates. We’ve reviewed all of the above chocolates in previous posts. If you search ‘Charbonnel’ in the search bar on the right-hand side of the page you will be able to read more about each one. Some of these Charbonnel chocolates are available in John Lewis/Waitrose, Harrods and also at their own stores or online from their website.

Beautifully presented Baked & Boxed chocolate brownies.

Baked & Boxed chocolate brownies – which we reviewed last year – were the best brownies I’ve ever had (and I’ve had a few!). They are made fresh and they arrive beautifully packaged which makes it even more of an ideal gift. They come in three different flavours, Classic chocolate, Salted Caramel and Walnut. The centres are so fresh and gooey. Because they are made fresh you need to give at least 3 days notice.  P&P is free on weekday deliveries and delivered on your day of choice whereas a Saturday delivery is £8.95. Take a look at our review.

So, what can you get the person who doesn’t like chocolate? Well how about these?

Cutter & Squidge's delicious 'Biskie'. Part biscuit/cake/cookie
Cutter & Squidge’s delicious ‘Biskie’. Part biscuit/cake/cookie

How about these delightful ‘Biskies‘ from Cutter & Squidge? A Biskie is a unique hand-made biscuit/cookie/cake layered with a special light buttercream and handmade jams or caramels. They are really tasty and Helen and I loved them. There are many different flavours available and if you take a look at our review of Biskies you can learn more. Orders and delivery details are on their website. If you happen to be in London they are available in Selfridges Food Hall along with a rather special ‘Friskie Biskie‘ Valentine selection where 14 of the ingredients are aphrodisiacs! What an amazing idea.

Failing that there are marshmallows – which I’m hoping to review in the very near future or another idea is popcorn. Joe & Seph make very tasty popcorn. If you don’t have a special person in your life right now why not treat yourself to one of these goodies instead.

If my husband is reading this I’d like any or all of the above please.

Living life, loving cake, chocolate, biscuits…..
