With the festive season drawing near, what better way to start celebrating than by visiting London’s Taste of Christmas this weekend. The three day exhibition, held at London’s ExCel Centre, will play host to some of the world’s finest eateries and gastro names including Jamie Oliver who will open the show.
According to the website, a number of sweet food vendors will be on hand to make sure guests don’t go hungry. This is the perfect chance for me to sample the very best street food in the warmth of a venue, as I haven’t been brave enough to face the cold which meant I have somewhat missed out on this growing city trend. With so much choice, I’m already thinking about which to sample; whether it’s Hix’s Fishdog (a fish finger sandwich to you and me) or Yalla Yalla for some Lebanese and Middle Eastern delights. I will of course, be seeking out the finest sweet treats and I do hope I am lucky enough to fill my belly with cake.
It appears that there will be plenty going on to keep me entertained throughout my visit with a number of cooking demonstrations from celebrity chefs such as The Baker Brothers (a must for me!) and Michel Roux Jr. Furthermore, the show will provide me with a perfect opportunity to do some Christmas shopping as I hear there will be over 250 exhibitors at the event. I’m hoping to pick up some unique gifts, maybe even the venison pâté which appears on my dad’s Christmas list.
Tickets are just £18.50 for the day and can be purchased online at www.tasteofchristmas.com and you must purchase ‘crowns’ which can be exchanged for food and drink at the venue, a little annoying if you ask me. There is also an option to purchase a two-course dining experience with a Festive Feasting Ticket (£59) or High Tea with a High Tea Ticket (£39) if you wish to make your visit extra special.
Have a great time if you plan to attend, if not, I’ll be sharing my experience with you so keep your eyes peeled for a review in the next couple of weeks.
Living life, loving cake,
