Charbonnel et Walker truffles – two new delicious flavours

It probably doesn’t come as a surprise to you all that I love chocolate and am particularly partial to Charbonnel et Walker’s truffles. I don’t think I’ve actually come across any that I don’t like and I’ve tried them all, many of which we have reviewed on our blog.  So it was great to learn that two new truffles have been added to the list and I was lucky to be sent a box of each.

The first box contained Dark Sea Salt Caramel Truffles. They come in the usual Charbonnel truffle box which is round and contains 10 yummy balls, each in it’s own little paper case.

As soon as I lifted the lid I could smell the rich aroma of the dark chocolate truffles. Some of the cocoa dusting came out of the box as I opened it, so do take care. They certainly look good enough to eat, don’t they?

These truffles were very tasty, although I wasn’t to keen on the cocoa powder dusted over them. Once you lick all that off get past that, the dark chocolate is very thick and creamy. If you suck the truffle whole the chocolate melts very nicely and then all of a sudden the thick caramel oozes out.

I also tried biting into one, just to see how thick the chocolate actually was. The caramel was at the right consistency to ooze out nicely, but not too liquidy to make a mess.

Helen recently sent me this lovely lacquer-ware bowl as a birthday gift from Myanmar  she wants me to leave it to her in my will. This was hand-made by the Jasmine family and took months to make. It’s the perfect holder for these truffles.

The Raspberry Marc de Champagne Truffles are in a similar box. As you can see from the photo, these are dark chocolate truffles with a champagne and raspberry centre and dusted in pink icing sugar.

I liked the icing sugar on these truffles much more than I did the cocoa powder on the caramel ones as of course, it was nice and sweet

They truly smelt wonderfully fruity and they just sat there staring up at me as if to saying ‘eat me’. So I did.

The dark chocolate wrapped around the truffle centre is again fairly thick. It melts very nicely in the mouth.

The truffle inside was rich and silky smooth. I could certainly taste the alcohol from the champagne. Charbonnel’s  Pink Marc de Champagne truffles are also very nice and are made with milk chocolate instead. All truffles are available from Charbonnel’s stores and their online shop and may also be found in selected stores of Waitrose and John Lewis. They are priced at £12.95.

This little bowl also holds Revels, Maltesers etc., beautifully too…

Living life, loving truffles
